Zoe's Story

On December 1st I received a call from the State Troopers regarding a complaint that was called in about a dog whose collar was rubbing her neck raw. They asked me if I would be available to transport the dog if needed. So I met with the Trooper and the man that called it in and as I got out of the truck, I could smell the infection that was on this dog from 15 feet away. She was rushed to the veterinarian to have 2 "collars" that were embedded into her neck, one being a narrow rope and one being a chain, surgically removed. This dog was described by a neighbor to the complainer as a vicious, mean, unapproachable dog that we would be putting down. She is actually a very sweet, loving, individual that was being tortured - tied to a house with an 8 ft cable with a dog house with no bedding, a frozen solid bucket of water, and her surroundings were full of her feces. The collars that were on her neck had to have been there for a LONG time. The rope collar was at least 4 inches to small for her size. I am amazed at the love that this dog naturally gives as I am sure she has never received any at all. Between some Ohio Residents and many of my customers and friends I have raised plenty of money to care for this dogs needs.

The criminal case against the owner is still pending.

Zoe and I went to the Marqui Theater in New Hartford along with many other humane societies and rescues during the opening week of  Marley and Me, to help educate people of the importance of adoption, either at your local animal shelter or by searching for your perfect pet on Petfinder.com. It was a great experience and Zoe was a sweetheart with everyone she met!

Zoe will be going to her foster family soon and when the criminal case is complete will be adopted by that family.
