Summertime Hazards
There
are many things during those hot days of summer that you need to be aware
of. First of all, where is your dog during the day? If you keep your dog
outside make sure that he has a dog house and that it is well out of the
sun.
Secondly, your dog MUST have
access to CLEAN water throughout the day to stay hydrated. Dogs are often
victims of dehydration and heat stroke because of not having clean water
at their disposal. Maybe try a kiddie pool. If they wish, they can get in
and cool off that way too!
Thirdly you may mean well,
taking Fido for a ride in the car on a hot summer day, but don't ever take
him where you will have to park and leave the vehicle at all! If you do,
and you don't leave the car running with the air-conditioner on, you are
sentencing your dog to death by heat stroke. In only a few minutes the
temperature can rise to a point that can kill your dog. Please do not
chance having that happen.
