T.A.P'S  Training and Showing

Last but absolutely not least by any stretch of the imagination is Heather Potrzeba and Willow.  Heather campaigned Willow all summer and earned enough points to qualify for the Zone II Hunter Finals held immediately following the Pennsylvania National Horse Show in Harrisburg.  It was the first time for both of us and it was a great experience. Willow came away with 9th place in his first Hunter O/F and also in his Under Saddle.  He pinned 8th in his second Hunter O/F as well.  I was extremely proud of both of them and Willow was an absolute gem!  He marched into the ring like it was his.  He is one of a kind!

LONG TIME NO SEE!!

I apologize for being absent for the entire summer!  It was such a busy one!  I have lots of news to share.

There were many shows that TAPS customers were involved in this year.  Many of the local shows were hit such as Bridle Path Manor, Fairway, Barneveld Horseman's Association, and White Fox Farm as well as a fun schooling show that was held at my home base, Shady Maples. Way too many ribbons to mention!

Some of the highlights from this season involved many of my students at the USEF Horse Shows.

Becca Mayville had her last season showing as a child rider.  She will be moving into that "younger adult" section next year! One of her shows with her horse Quazar this year was HITS Saugerties.  I suggested that she do the lower level jumpers this year for fun and she was game.  What a pleasant surprise we had when Quazar came away with Reserve Champion in her level!  One of her classes has a total of 42 horses and Becca and Quazar came in second place.  Good thing that Quazar is a fantastic Mudder!  We had the most rain that we have ever had at HITS this year!

Quazar and Becca kicking butt in the rain!

Another step up was from Jessica Kingsley and Aaron.  This pair had been cleaning up at the local level and since Aaron was getting so much mileage we decided to put him back in the jumper ring.  He still had some reservations but got better each time and Jessica did a great job.  As his confidence grows, which I know it will, he will make Jessica a great Jumper! Jessica made me very proud this summer as she worked very hard and went to more shows than anyone else!  She was an asset to the barn and very helpful in keeping things organized.  She is on her way to becoming a very fine "horseman".

By the end of the summer, Kierstyn Duggleby had been showing her new beautiful horse Battle Royale at a bunch of shows throughout.  I was extremely happy with the pair as it was a new match and they suited each other brilliantly!  Starting in the Pre-Childrens division in July, Royale proved to us that showing is his thing.  The end of the Summer at the State Fair Kierstyn did a week and a half stint continuously showing in 4H, the Open Show and the USEF show.  They got a real education during that time.  With all of the mileage that she put on him, we went to Autumn in NY and moved up to the 3' Children's division.  Kierstyn rode beautifully and even though Royale was a little fresh he came away with the 5th place ribbon in the Chidren's Hunter Classic on Sunday against all 24 of the Childrens riders.  That is quite an accomplishment for a horse/rider combination at Autumn in NY.  Especially since the horse hasn't done the 3' division with his rider yet and Kierstyn has only been riding for 4 years.  I was very impressed!

Kendra Duggleby was able to impress me as well!  Katie French/Kendra's pony, Small But Mighty just started jumping courses late this summer. She also did the week and a half stint at the State Fair also.  She culminated her year at Autumn in NY and I was astounded!  This pair was pretty new to the entire process. Kendra who is only in 5th grade and "Annabelle" who is VERY green, went right in to the coliseum and went around like it was just another day at home.  I can't tell you how PROUD I was of them.

One more person I want to mention is Mrs. Joanne Bush.  This year at the Chumung County Classic she made her debut in the show ring jumping her horse Everclear!  Joanne had a great time and did very well.  I'm extremely happy with "Zeke" and very proud of Joanne! He is a beauty!
